How to Porch

Step 1: decide to come

Step 2: come!

There are a few guidelines to help everyone enjoy the porch experience.

It’s pretty casual tbh.

Guilt-free RSVP

RSVPing mostly just helps keep me organized. I’ll always confirm the day-of. If you need to come late or leave early, or cancel it’s allll good. Come hang when you have capacity, pass when you don’t!

Rain or shine(ish)

We will always make a call day-of at NOON, as well as confirm your RSVP. We all live in Alberta, we know what it’s like here.

Show up as you are

Come when you’re sad. Come in pajamas. Come with a friend. Come dressed up. Come for 30 minutes. Come for 3 hours. Come share your wins with reckless abandon. Come with curiosity and respect for the humans around you.

Porch hangs are small. I know this feels all ‘official’ because it’s on a website but I promise it’s more of a secret garden yard hang vibe. We pop up, we roam. Etc.

whAT THE HECK IS THE PORCH

Life moves fast. This porch doesn’t.

The Porch is still coming together, like most of us.

Too tired for another group chat, don’t have capacity to commit to another ‘thing’, but still believe in human connection, on occasion? You’re probably in the right place. Small scale community gatherings to unwind, maybe try something new, and most importantly be outside close to nature! Yeehaw!

FAQ

What's the cost?

A 'porch pitch' is appreciated but not required. On occasion you’ll see products, services, or classes you can purchase alongside your Porch visit. These are always optional. The porch is for everyone!

One day I hope to see The Staring Porch as a group that can provide connection, services, and resources to anyone who needs a quiet place to connect with nature, animals, and themselves.

Is this for 'horse people' only?

Nope! Come one come all. You’ll likely see some horsie themed gatherings but engage with what you like and pass on the rest! All skill levels welcome. Go at your own pace!

Cellphone 'Daycare'!?

Challenge yourself by storing phones for the majority of the hang. The last 10-15min before you head out is great for photos and connecting. I’m not your boss so if you need to check in at the ‘daycare’ periodically, go ahead!
